We’re not going to wax lyrical about Finnish death metal – unless you’ve been living under a particularly large rock lately, you’ve surely heard all the well deserved and somewhat belated praise that scene has been getting. We are going to point out, however that Corpsessed have been torch bearers both for their country’s death metal scene and the roster of Dark Descent Records for just about a decade now.

Spawned in 2007 in Jarvenpaa, Finland, the 5-piece band started honing their crushing death Metal tunes and officially released their first EP titled “The Dagger & The Chalice” on CD by Dark Descent Records (USA) and on vinyl by Me Saco Un Ojo (UK) in 2011. Corpsessed’s debut full length album titled “Abysmal Thresholds” was released in the beginning of 2014, on the same labels, and strengthened the band’s position as a spearhead of current Finnish death metal.

2018 saw the year of the bands second full-length “Impetus of Death”, an album that manages to top it its predecessors in terms of heaviness and brutality while taking their epic sound a step further. So if you’re into abyssal and harrowing death metal, no better place to be than Old Grave 2019.

Graveyard was formed in September 2007 by four musicians with extensive experience in the Spanish metal scene – among others, you will surely remember Javi “Bastard” from his appearance with Korgull the Exterminator at Old Grave Fest 2015. A dozen splits with some of the genre’s elite, from Nominon to Entrails and Deathevokation, a few EPs and three full length records (One with the Dead in 2009, The Sea Grave in 2013 and …for Thine Is the Darkness in 2016) cemented the band’s place as purveyors of old school tunes in the vein of the old Swedish masters.

Word on the street is that a new album is coming out this year, one more reason to check them out at OGF 2019.

Lie in Ruins was formed initially in the golden season of death metal in the early 90’s, but was buried in the background for several years, until 2002 when it was dug up again from the tomb to spread the seed of evil.

After a couple of demos, …Monuments and …Statues, and a split-7″ with Deathevokation called An Allegiance in Death, the band entered the studio and recorded ten desecrating songs for the full-length album called Swallowed by the Void (2009). The album saw Lie in Ruins become gloomier and darker than never before. Slowly but steadily, the band also started crafting new material for a sophomore full-length release. 2014 saw the birth of “Towards Divine Death” which was released by Dark Descent Records. Five years would have to pass again for a new release – the third full length record is scheduled to come out in 2019.
